Perfectionism to Compassion

Teacher’s pet. Straight-A student. Valedictorian. Defined by high achievement, I thought perfection was the source of my value in my first two decades of life. In my 20s, although I already bought into social and emotional learning as essential to education, I hadn’t truly applied it to myself. My yoga practice moved me from perfectionism to compassion. Compassion created space for growth, and I unmasked perfectionism to reveal a fixed mindset. Compassion makes the flaws inherent to being human perfect.
